A rare landrace from northern Madagascar, collected in the highlands of Ambanja District.

This variety shows two main phenotypes, one lime green (maintsoa), the other dark purple (sakai or parasy).

The lime-green type has a strong mango-carrot aroma. Its effect is electric, inspiring, and energizing.

The dark-purple type shows aromas of pepper, pine, and spices. Its effect begins with a good rush then evens out into a calm and trippy high.

Cultivators have reported citrus and ‘red-haired’ expressions.

This Dzamal variety is cultivated in the Sambarino Highlands, a region with a highly variable and often rainy climate. Plants exhibit excellent resistance to pests and diseases such as mould.
