Citral / Chitral / Pakistan Chitral Kush

One of the best lines to come out of early 1990s Amsterdam was ‘Citral’, a classic of the era’s coffee shop menus and seed catalogues. Shown above is an original early 90s F1 with DJ Short’s ‘Flo’, now available as regular seeds here: Chitral x Flo.

A pure Indica IBL created using genetics from the Pakistani Hindu Kush, Citral produced ‘herby, strong weed for devotees’, in the words of the old Positronics catalogue.

After Citral proved to be not only great indoors but also demonstrated superb disease resistance outdoors, Positronics added the line to their library in clone and seed form in 1993.

Fields trials indicate Chitrali genetics can show exceptional resistance to Powdery Mildew, as with Pakistan Chitral Kush and the pure Chitrali landrace.

Over at Kwik Seeds, we’ve just listed an F1 hybrid created in early 1990s Amsterdam by crossing two classics: the Positronics’ ‘Citral’ and DJ Short’s ‘Flo’.

The seeds now available were produced in 2025 from an original pack of Chitral x Flo seeds that was bought in early 1990s Amsterdam (c. 1993) and then placed into long-term storage in a freezer.

Chitral x Flo expresses its parents’ rich hashplant heritage and warm positive highs. Plants are Indica in structure with a large main cola, fairly compact architecture, and heavy Christmas-tree branching, as shown in the above photo. The effects take you back to the old-school highs of the Amsterdam heyday.
