Here’s a new chat about landraces and traditional cannabis cultures with Angus and the good people of High on Home Grown | The Cannabis Podcast.
The photo is by a Chitrali friend from his land in the high Hindu Kush and shows a branch of Yarkhun Valley, one of the routes by which charas caravans of the 19th and early 20th centuries travelled from Xinjiang / East Turkestan to the markets of megacities such as Lahore.
Chitral itself became a significant commercial producer of charas after production in Xinjiang – Yarkand, Yengisar, and so on – was shut down in the 1930s by the KMT (Kuomintang / Chinese Nationalist Party).
