Endangered Varieties of subsp. indica: A Few Thoughts

Real Seed Co May 13, 2020

charas, ganja, landraces

‘Endangered Varieties of subsp. indica: A Few Thoughts‘ is new at the blog.

I discuss McPartland and Small’s crucial new study, ‘A classification of endangered high-THC cannabis (Cannabis sativa subsp. indica) domesticates and their wild relatives‘, and dive into some of the history and ethnobotany of the Himalaya, bhang, and ganja.

The photo is a Bengali var. indica landrace from the Indian Hemp Drugs Commission, entitled ‘Ganja plant almost ready to cut, Naogaon’, 16th February 1894.
